The Oubliette

WANTED
THEATRE COMPANIES WITH BOLD NEW PLAYS

APRIL @ IB6 - The Oubliette are preparing for an ambitious three-week long theatre festival showcasing brand new work by bold and innovative theatre companies.

CRITERIA

Companies must be pitching a project that can be brought to life within a
matter of weeks.

The piece should not have been performed elsewhere (at least not in it's current form)

Preference will be given to companies who do not currently receive any recognized pubic or private sector funding.

The Oubliette can offer support in the form of possible rehearsal space if needed and a wide range of contacts etc. However the company should look to be self sufficient and bring all that they need into the space with them. The Oubliette cannot offer financial support.

HOW TO APPLY

Please submit a concise synopsis of the proposed piece and information about the company to ib6@theoubliette.co.uk by Saturday 20th February 2010. Please include any links to video showreels and websites that are appropriate and keep any attachments under 1mb.

The season will also feature talks, debates, networking events and the launch of the Oubliette writers room. Anyone who wishes to submit/suggest an event please also contact the email above.

We will not consider applications that do not meet the above criteria. Please ensure you have followed these steps before submitting your pitch. Thank you!
TESTIMONIALS

DonkeyWork had been developing The Case for a couple of years, looking both for funding and a space in which to perform. We were staring to despair of finding the latter without the former when we were introduced to The Oubliette. We performed at their arthouse in the language school near Waterloo station from 22 to 27 June 2009 and the production gained both critical acclaim and a subsequent invitation to create a new piece in conjunction with the South Bank. None of this would have been possible without The Oubliette's involvement. They gave us both the absolute freedom to develop our work in a uniquely supportive atmosphere and also provided technical and practical assistance with mounting the production. Both of these were invaluable.

We attracted a large and enthusiastic audience (pretty much the sole caveat presented by Lyn Gardener, writing in The Guardian, was that there were too many people there on the first night ) and recouped all our costs from donations. Much of the interested we generated was down to peopleÕs curiosity about The Oubliette and clearly demonstrated public support for the work being done there. We benefited hugely from this and I cannot think of another way we could have got our fledgling company off to such a flying start. Oubliette, we salute you.
